Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine (RM) support people with complex disabilities arising from conditions such as spinal and head injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), musculoskeletal disorders, congenital or acquired limb loss, muscle disorders, cerebral palsy and spina bifida. They can support spasticity management working closely with MDT for ongoing rehabilitation.
 

Our consultant might be able to confirm diagnoses and advice prognosis. They will be able to provide information, support and counselling for patients, families and carers.

Rehabilitation medicine has important relationships with trauma, orthopaedics, neurology, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, acute medicine and palliative medicine. Rehabilitation medicine has a central role in the early and ongoing management of patients within the major trauma networks.
