Clinical Neuropsychology focusses on the effects of neurological illness or injury on an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioural functioning.
By carrying out detailed assessments that include some psychometric tests, the neuropsychologist works to help the individual and their family to better understand the effects of brain injury and trauma on social functioning, occupation, and relationships.
Following their assessment, the neuropsychologist will share their findings with the individual and with the therapy team. Together, they will then use the information and advice provided by the neuropsychologist to develop and fine tune appropriate interventions and support packages that are client centred and focussed on enhancing the individual’s levels of independence, social and emotional functioning and their quality of life.
